The journey to Arizona took 3 days and except for the Texas Panhandle was pretty uneventful. It seems Texas is one of the states that has run out of "salt" for their roads because one second we were flying down Interstate 66 on clear roads and the next second we were in the Texas panhandle and the road was totally snowpacked/icy and traffic speed slowed to a crawl.
The famous "route 66" road runs parallel to the interstate and for some unknown reason it was snow and ice free and clear as a whistle. So we did what you not supposed to do and went right over the grass onto good old 66. We weren't the only ones to do that so we were very worried about doing it. We would once in awhile head back to the interstate but eventually would go back again the 66. That lasted about 1 1/2 hours. Eventually the interstate cleared up and we stayed on that all the way to Arizona.
Yesterday it got up to 60! Felt great. It's like playing house down here right now. We'll in our new place and have to figure out where to put everything. I also have to figure out how to remember where anything is. I've also forgotten where things are in Mesa so that will take me some time to jog my memory.
Can't beat this place though, photos and more "slantings" will come later.

oh hello
Whew, Christmas is coming to a close. My "wunderkind" daughter and her fiancee finally got me to open up my own blog... so here it goes.
To me a blog is really just telling my "slant" on things. So every once in awhile I will share some of my "slants" with those interested in reading about them.
To start with, I retired in January, went to Arizona a week later for two months, came back to Minnesota and golfed, played racquetball, golfed, played racqueball..., had a wonderful time in June as my son got married, enjoyed the rest of the summer until.... boom I had quadruple bypass surgery!
Three months later, after much cardiac rehab, I'm back to "normal" and playing racquetball and enjoying life and feeling a lot better.
So with this year coming to a close I guess you could say it's been an up and down year. But I'm not complaining. On the 27th we're headed off to Arizona again for the winter months. I've got some new plumbing and I'm feeling great!
So my first post is nearing a close. My daughter thinks I can be funny so maybe that will come through later in future blogs. Right now I can't figure out what I'm doing so that must mean it's time to sign off.
Hope all of you out there have a Happy New Year and GO GOPHERS!
